(1) Three-sided knife

The three-side cutter of a CNC machine tool is also called a flat cutter or an end mill. There is a main drilling edge on the periphery and a secondary drilling edge on the bottom. It can be used for roughing and clearing corners, deep processing of side plan and sea level. Common ones are ED20, ED19.05 (3/4 feet), ED16, ED15.875 (5/8 feet), ED12, ED10, ED8, ED6, ED4, ED3, ED2, ED1.5, ED1, ED0.8 And ED0.5 and so on. E is the first English letter of End Mill; D represents the diameter of the drilling blade.


Under normal circumstances, a large diameter knife should be selected when opening thick paper, and the shortest possible knife should be selected when installing the knife to ensure sufficient bending stiffness and prevent the knife from jamming. When choosing a fruit knife, you must integrate the production and processing areas, clarify the minimum star length and the length of the straight part, and choose the company’s best tool. If the inclination of the sideband is called an oblique knife, it can be further processed.

(2) Round nose knife

The round nose knives of CNC machine tools are also called three-sided R knives, which can be used to open rough, plan-view laser cutting knives and laser cutting knives with bevel design. Generally, the half bending angle is R0.1~R8. There are usually one-piece and inlaid knives. Round nose knives with blades are also called “flying knives” and are mainly used for large-scale roughing and sea level laser cutting knives. Common ones are ED30R5, ED25R5, ED16R0.8, ED12R0.8 and ED12R0.4. For the initial processing of the flying knife, please choose a scimitar whenever possible. When the production and processing are deep, the length of the knife should be installed in the shallower production and processing area first, and then the longer production and processing area should be installed to improve work efficiency and reduce costs.

(3) Ball knife

The ball knives of CNC machine tools are also called R knives, which are mainly used for beveled laser cutting knives and laser cutting knives. Common ball knives are BD16R8, BD12R6, BD10R5, BD8R4, BD6R3, BD5R2.5 (common in production and processing runners), BD4R2, BD3R1.5, BD2R1, BD1.5R0.75 and BD1R0.5. B is the first English letter of Ball Mill. Under normal circumstances, it is necessary to clarify the commonly used deep-processing CNC blades based on the precise measurement of the inner circle semi-warpage of the produced and processed patterns. Choose chopper laser cutting knives and fruit knives for production and processing as much as possible.

2. Tools and materials

In the production and processing of metal material drilling, the material of the tool, that is, a part of the drilling, must withstand higher cutting speeds and impact forces, and suffer strong friction between steel and cutting, resulting in high drilling temperatures. The processing capacity must have the following aspects.

(1) High strength: about HRC62, at least higher than the strength of the raw materials produced and processed.
(2) High wear resistance: Generally speaking, the harder the raw material, the greater the carbon content in the mechanism, the softer the particles, the more uniform the distribution, and the higher the wear resistance.
(3) Sufficient compressive strength and ductility
(4) High temperature resistance.
(5) Excellent heat transfer.
(6) Excellent process performance and rationality.
In order to meet the left and right regulations, today’s CNC tools are usually made of the following raw materials:
(1) Front steel, such as WMoAl series products.
(2) Tungsten steel such as YG3.
(3) New tungsten steel, such as YG6A.
(4) Coated CNC blades, such as TiC, TiN, Al2O3.
(5) Ceramic knife. It can still withstand higher cutting consumption at high temperatures.
(6) Superhard tool materials.

3. Buy CNC blades

Today, most CNC machining center tools are technical and standardized. When purchasing, you need to ask for the CNC blade company’s specifications and model albums, combined with our factory’s production and processing standards, and choose CNC blades with high wear resistance to ensure the best economic benefits. If the amount of product replacement in our factory is not large, the types of CNC blades should be as few as possible and refined.
